Soy
una gran fan del cine y la televisión. He querido trabajar en ese sector
la mayor parte de mi vida, pero hay una cosa que nunca podré entender.
¿Por qué algunos directores o guionistas deciden tomar un libro amado y
cambiarlo por completo? ¿Por qué decir que amas tanto una historia que
quieres adaptarla para la pantalla grande o pequeña y luego básicamente
cambiarla a tus gustos o lo que quieres que cuente la historia? Si eres tan
inteligente por qué no escribes tu propia historia? Por ejemplo, Peter
Jackson afirma ser un gran admirador de Tolkien, pero siente la necesidad de
cambiar básicamente el humor de Tolkien y poner su propio humor payasistico y
agregar algunos romances extremadamente ridículos entre un enano y un elfo. Las
historias de Tolkien no lo necesitaban, eran perfectas como eran.
Benioff y Peterson decidieron que, dado que estaban pagando por
Brad Pitt, también debían tenerlo como el héroe de la historia, a pesar de que
todo lo que se haya escrito sobre la guerra de Troya dejó muy claro que Aquiles
era todo menos un héroe.
Y ahora debido a la cuarentena, decidí ver una nueva adaptación de
un libro querido de mi infancia. Anne con una E es una serie muy bien
hecha, tiene muy buen reparto y muy buenas localizaciones, y las historias son
muy conmovedoras e interesantes. Pero NO es la historia de Lucy Maud
Montgomery. No entiendo por qué sintieron la necesidad de estar más 'concienciados'
o PC o lo que sea, pero han cambiado completamente la historia. Han
cambiado por completo las historias de los personajes, ahora Gilbert Blythe es
un huérfano que trabaja en un barco de vapor y Josephine Barry no vive sola
porque quiere y puede, lo que en sí ya era algo muy feminista, sino porque
es una lesbiana. Eso podría haber sido cierto, pero esa no es la
historia. ¿Por qué no hacer tu propia historia en lugar de cambiar
completamente la de otra persona? ¿Por qué molestarse en decir que está
adaptando un libro y luego cambiar todo? Si lo hubieran llamado de otra
manera, dado a los personajes otros nombres, estaría disfrutando mucho de serie.
Tal como es, me disgusta bastante.

say you love a story so much that you want to adapt it for the big or small
screen and then basically change it to your likes or what you want the story to
tell? if you're so smart then write your own story. For example, Peter Jackson
claims to be a big Tolkien fan but he feels the need to change basically any of
the Tolkien humor and put in his own slapstick humor and add some extremely
ridiculous romances between a dwarf and an elf.
Tolkien's stories did not need it, they were perfect the way they were.

well have him be the hero of the story even though and anything that has ever
been written about the war of Troy made very clear that Achilles was anything but a hero.
And now
due to the quarantine, I decided to watch a new adaptation of a beloved book of
my childhood. Anne with an E is a very well done show, it has a very good
casting and very good locations, and the stories are very heartwarming and interesting.
But it is NOT Lucy Maud Montgomery's story. I don't understand why they felt
the need to be more 'woke' or PC or whatever, but they've completely changed
the story. They've completely changed the characters storylines, now Gilbert
Blythe is an orphan who works on a steamer and Josephine Barry doesn't live
alone because she wants to and is able to, which in itself was already a very
feminist thing, but because she's a lesbian. That might have been true, but
that is not the story. Why not make your own story instead of changing
completely somebody else's? Why bother saying you are adapting a book and then
changing the whole thing? If they had called it anything else, given the
characters other names, I would be enjoying the show a lot. As it is, I'm disliking
it quite a bit.
